Asset 124@WillowSt

After heavy winter storms caused a major riverbank failure along Willow Street that threatened nearby residences, BKF supported rapid evaluation, permitting, and stabilization design. Through close coordination with the City of San Jose, Valley Water, and permitting agencies, our team expedited construction before the following winter, restoring bank protection and reducing future storm risk to local housing.

Asset 119@Sunnyvale

In Sunnyvale, BKF supported the rehabilitation of a failed 60-inch outfall along Stevens Creek that had deteriorated during storm conditions. Our team led alternatives analysis, environmental permitting across multiple agencies, and design of access, stabilization, and channel protection measures. Construction restored conveyance capacity, stabilized the creek bank, and incorporated willow planting to improve long-term resilience.

Asset 122@AnnaDr

BKF is supporting the City of Santa Clara on the Anna Drive Flood Protection Project, identified as a top priority in the City’s Storm Drain Master Plan due to recurring flooding concerns. The team completed detailed survey and preliminary design to upsize storm drain pipes, improve system capacity, and relocate utilities to reduce flood risk. Final design is underway, with construction expected to begin in 2026.

Asset 125@Catalina

BKF supported emergency grading and repair of the access roadway to Fourth of July Cove on Catalina Island after severe 2022–2023 storms caused major erosion and made the route impassable. The damage blocked medical and service access to Fourth of July, Howland’s, and Emerald Coves. BKF obtained emergency permits from the appropriate federal, state, and county agencies, and repairs were completed and permits closed in August 2023.

Funding & Emergency Documentation Support

In addition to supporting the design and permitting for these repairs,
BKF can also support with funding documentation support.

BKF Assists with:

✔ FEMA Public Assistance technical documentation
✔ Site evaluations, reporting, and cost tracking
✔ Funding pursuit and grant support

This helps agencies protect budgets, accelerate response, and secure reimbursement for eligible storm-related repair work.
